Re: No plastic

You know - when the boxes of teabags are used up, I might even look at a teapot. Wonder if that could be a Christmas present request. Would make a change from the allotment needs .....

Plastic Free July

It's that time of the year again. All sorts of wonderful ideas about how to avoid plastic. I nodded as I bought in the plastic recycling waste bins after the bin man had been. And then watered the greenhouse and village flower tubs with a plastic watering can. I know, I know - there are metal wateri...

Re: Self sufficient skills List

Never did learn the culinary skills required for dealing with hares as a child on the farm but was aware that adults could first catch the hare and then turn it into food. If I remember hare was an acquired taste - I didn't and was glad to move on away from farm kitchens for work. I have a memory of...

Re: No plastic

Anyone got an answer to an allotment where some 2.5 years on I'm still finding plastic to dig out in odd corners where the previous tenant gave up brick mining?

Re: Self sufficientish in 2019

My allotments make me self sufficientish so if I have to keep the committee going to keep my allotments then so be it. The other things I have been doing have contributed to other people's self sufficiency not mine. That letter has gone on its merry way.

Re: Self sufficientish in 2019

This morning I have had a clear out of old stuff relating to voluntary things I'm not doing any more on the computer. I've done a round robin to the committee of the local allotment association to get approval for an advert to recruit more committee members and to get some help in our association Hu...

Re: Self sufficientish in 2019

I'm in the process of handing over internet related duties that have been taking up too many days each week I might just get around to having time in the real world to be self sufficient. Never volunteer she says. 7 years on one community website and 5 years on a community supported agriculture Face...

Re: RAIN !!

This time last year we were "celebrating" a hot and dry summer. The farmers were muttering about how crops would be affected. At the moment the rain seems to be doing an April showers job through May and June. With winds to dry things up as soon as possible after the rain. I hear complaints coming -...

Re: Summer's coming

It's sort of raining which is good as the high wind and sun has caused drought conditions here. Whether the rain will amount to much or whether it's out hosepipe even so tomorrow is another matter. If the wind would drop, the summer sun and showers would happen then the allotments would be more will...
