Hydroelectric Turbines : same as wind turbines?

Just a quick questino hopefully martin or somebody can answer. Are the turbines the same for both hydroeletric and wind? Basicly, would it be efficint to use a wind turbine in water, as im makin a small model for a client and can't seem to find any hydroelectric turbines to use.

Cheers

I meant the declaration of independance light heartedly, it would be nice to have a country with no carbon emissions, etc etc, but yeah, not top of the list of priorities. I saw 79 acres in nova scotia for ~£150k, so there are still good properties going. Sorry i havn't been about recently, i am ...

Funny you should mention that, was were i got the idea really. Starter looking at forests and woodland, possibly charcoal burning, then saw the tribe website, realised it seemed much like a con, and decided an island might be good (declare independance etc etc).

Hotchys' Islands' Thread

As some of you know, i'm planning to buy an island in a few years, and then move there, and live nearly completely self sufficiently (not going to make my own toothpaste or medicine, although i walk most things off). I have made this thread to discuss all things about it, as opposed to make lots of ...

Well, if i was in your situation and decided i wanted to keep it, i would clip it's wings, it's painless, and it's the only way to stop it running away and geting itself into trouble. Solution to foxes is to shoot them :D. Just dont clip it's wings, and then release it :P.

Well, fuel cells aren't 100% non polluting, 99.9% though :P. I don't see the technology being too expensive, the ENV thread i made is cheap, 3 grand, and really cheap fuel, seems cheaper then most things, aslong as you dont mind not breaking the speed limit

Anyone want to make a Pot?

Well, this summer, i've got the task of making some underground storage, i figured it would be a nice idea. No concrete needed:, im planning on the rrom being 5*5*3 *metres), and when i get 3+ metres down, it's going to be solid clay, so foundations shouldnt be needed. The frame will be made from th...

The things i have against nuclear are: 1st-waste, well, i guess you can put it in lead etc, but im not convinced 2nd- terrorists, sure you can say you'll have security, but there's a fundamental problem (maybe i should make it a law, not sure i can describe it well enough), you can start with lots o...

Should be able to find some articles on it, the price is on intelligent energy's website i think, but i know it's 3-4 grand (£s), and if you buy the hydrogen, which is about £3 to fill it up, meaning 3p/mile. Can make a hydrogen generator, or buy on soonish, a few are making them for the H pri...

Maybe not that cheap out there, but it's the cheapest we've found, apart from grassland in mexico, which im not too keen on, generally trying to find out how much land we need, so we can then make a decission.

Well, i know them too well. They are very good friends, and i've known them since school, may be a bit wacky, but who else but the wacky would go on this sort of venture? They are also reliable, which is key. Most of the islands we've looked at are nearish to civilisation, so it won't be too bad, an...
