Bread & Marmalade

We have lots of oranges at the moment so I had my first ever go at making marmalade. I used half the sugar that the recipe asked for (I hate all that sugar you're supposed to put in jams but I'm always worried the recipe won't work if I use less) and it's come out with a lovely fresh orange tang rat...

Re: Ladies' handbags

i do have a handbag, with all my so-called "essential" stuff in it, but i rarely remember to take it anywhere with me. the contents are usually a clue to when the last time i used it was - judging by looking in it now that must have been last weekend. passport purse lip balm leaflet from a...

Re: Bad ish person

Just to update though, my 2009 seems to have started off well... so far I've ditched a large majority of my chemical based household cleaners for vinegar and bicarb, replaced my others with Ecover, and started making some of my own cosmetics out of household products... way hey. I know we're not fa...

Re: Greetings from Northern Portugal

yeah i woke up freezing this morning, didn't want to get out of bed, brrr. by lunchtime i was in a t-shirt

i think that's why we really feel the cold - because there's such a big difference between daytime and evening/early morning temperatures.

Re: double vs single glazing

yes, we're going for wood despite the problems of hot, dry summers and wet winters making it shrink, crack, swell and warp. plus there are a gazillion critters here that just love to feast on wood :(

Re: double vs single glazing

double vs single glazing

hoping someone can help with a debate going on here at the moment! when we renovate our ruin we plan to have floor-to-ceiling glass on the south wall of the living room - we have an amazing view so want to make the most of that, but also want to have as much solar gain as possible. the back (north) ...
