Thanks Andy, thats interesting. I'll harvest the seeds and see if anything grows. I can't remember what varieties I planted so it will be a surprise.

Potato plants

I'm growing potatoes for the first time this year and they seem to be doing well. I'm a bit confused at the moment as there are little green baby tomato looking things growing on the plant! They are hard so not really a tomato. But I had no idea that potatoes had seeds (if they are seeds). Is this n...

The eco kettle has 2 measures on it. One for cups and one for mugs, and the mug level is pretty accurate to the mugs I use. You push the button down to let water from one reserviour into the other. Haven't tried the bicard cleaning yet but I'll give it a go this weekend. There is only one bit of met...

My parsley is growing really well this year. I just put some seed in a pot, forgot to cover with soil, and they are all about 4cm's high now. But this is when I normally manage to kill them!
I think old seeds definitely don't work as well.

How many times have you boiled it?? Some manufacturers say to boil it full a couple of times to get rid of the smell... I've boiled it loads of times. You can't taste it in coffee so didnt' really notice for a few days. It makes tea taste vile!!!! Is bicarb a deodoriser? I might try that next. And ...

My OH is a bit strange. He won't eat anything home grown. Prefers the shop bought chemical ridden stuff! I grew up on a farm and find all the fruit and veg much nicer if it is home grown and eaten just after picking. Yummy. I have to pretend the food is shop bought so that he will eat it! No veg to ...

Eco kettle

I bought an eco kettle recently. You push a button for the amount of water to be boiled. That way I don't have to battle with OH about boiling the full kettle for one cup of tea. And he has agreed to use it, except it really smells of plastic. I've tried washing it with vinegar but it still smells f...

Hello

Hello all
This looks like a really good site.
I'm sort of new to growing veg and trying to be green. I'm trying to convert the rest of the household to recycle and eat home grown veg.
Hope to get lots of tips from the site.
