I have one of the log makers too. I started making some a while ago so they dry out in summer (yeah...summer.....remember that weekend....?...lol) I also keep old toilet rolls and stuff them with the paper too, leave them in the sun and hey presto, a 'ready log'. I put all my shredded paper into a bowl of hot water, add a squirt of washing up liquid which binds the paper together, and make balls off paper squeezed tightly and left to dry....
Throw them on the fire at Xmas time...extra coal for the fire and free too
