Ahhh thanks! That sounds very do-able & delicious. I am sure that we can stick a bit of gin in it if it isn't alcoholic enough...

Yeah, looking forward to making some elderflower cordial here too. Although just realised that all my bottles are in use with various other concoctions... (rhubarb schnapps & quince vodka mostly) We have moved from East Anglia to the Midlands and I have no idea when to expect the elderflowers ro...

Here's a link to our family blog & a recipe for citrussy rhubarb jam . It's delicious & entirely foolproof. We've also done rhubarb muffins & rhubarb chutney. Here's a recipe for Rhubarb Tansy, which was my absolute favourite when I was a kid (err, still is I think): 450g rhubarb in 2-3c...

I made rumtopf last year & it came out really well. It was my second attempt & tbh the 1st time it was pretty rank... possibly because I found it hard to keep the fruit submerged under the rum. This time I weighted it down & it was much more sucessful. I used cherries, plums, blueberries...

Well I am going to give it a go - I like to dabble in these things. . Thanks for the advice - I shall report back in a month or 2. Since posting I've had a bit of a goole and lots of people have the recipe but no one seems to have anything to say about what it tastes like... Traditionally it seems h...

Hawthorn Flower Liqueur?

I have a recipe for Hawthorn Flower Liqueur (from an National Trust cookbook I think) that I fancy trying - anyone every had a go? It's basically hawthorn flowers (no!) steeped in brandy & then bottled with added sugar. The thing that I am unsure about is the brandy & the kind to use. The sk...

Great recipe! We always make lots of elderberry cordial but I have to say that your recipe sounds considerably more exciting. :drunken:

I got really lucky at the tip & got 3 terracotta plant pots that a woman was about to chuck. She clearly thought I was insane but they are lovely... I have no idea why she was throwing them...

I don't know if this is any use to you but a really good work from home opportunity is Any Questions Answered. I do this in the evenings after my sons are in bed & make reasonable money from it.

My sons absolutely love George Luck Puzzles . They are made in the UK, are beautifully coloured & are enough of a challenge to keep them interested for a while. The puzzles on the site are arranged by age too, so that really helps with the choosing, especially for confused rellies. We also inves...

I have my soup blog because i like making good, fresh soup for work, and people were always asking me what's in the soup today, did you make it, have you got a recipe, all that kind of stuff. I also had a couple of people ask me why, when i can buy it in a can, do i bother making soup. So, i starte...

Now my sons are 4+ & too big to be carried on our backs & running around like the 'energetic' kids that they are, people are realising why we liked to keep them in a safe place. Safe for everyone else I mean

It's strange that people always feel that they have a right to comment when you are carrying a baby... DH & I wore our sons in ring slings (huggababy) & then in back carriers (Ergos) & people were always full of 'funny' comments & advice. I just wish I had know about all the gorgeous...

Yep, here it is. Haven't tried this one myself (boys only here) but a friend has & it worked out really well.
