Re: Flower remedies: any thoughts?

I'll be investing in a light box in the next few days, thanks to some christmas money from lovely relatives. It's good to hear that they've worked well for some of you :sunny: I'm quite excited about giving it a try... I'm also enjoying learning about the flower remedies, I've been giving a few a tr...

Re: The time has come...

This is a lovely idea, you can count me in! It's nice to see the idea of a lifestyle change instead of some odd diet that won't last. Not so much for weight loss (although the irrational part of me thinks i need to lose weight, my body mass index is fine, so i'm trying to be reasonable with myself!)...

Re: New Year Resolutions anyone?

I always make wishy-washy resolutions that I can't really measure, and so give no real sense of achievement. So this year it's two simple ones: 1. Graduate 2. Write to two friends who I haven't seen in years. now that seems reasonable, with a whole year ahead! Happy New Year to everyone, I hope it's...

Re: 202 reasons for not shopping at a supermarket

37. Some really do pour bleach on perfectly edible, yet 'out of date' food so that the homeless or anyone else who might try can't eat it. Having worked in a supermarket for 3 years, I argued the case for handing out this food to those who need it, and lost time and time again. argh! 38. They treat ...

Re: Flower remedies: any thoughts?

Thank you all so much for your replies- they've been very helpful. I think it also just helps to know that other people have gone through/are going through the same thing. I'll definitely give St. John's Wort a go I think. It seems quite easy to get hold of too, which is a plus! The points about kee...

Flower remedies: any thoughts?

I've been looking into non-medical-type things to aid mental well-being, this being the first winter in a few years that i'll be attempting without the aid of antidepressants. I think I'm ready, but I'm still pretty sensitive to faling int dark moods. I've had flower remedies recommended to me by a ...

Re: Natural remedies for colds and how to make herbal remedies

Brilliant! That's exactly what I came on here to look for today- being in the throws of real lady-flu  Enjoyed reading the article, will give some of the suggestions a try once i've rounded up someone to forage the ingredients for me. It's got to be better than those foul lemsip-type bitter cu...

Re: Feel so sad

that's terrible news. my thoughts are with you and him. wish I could think of something more comforting to say. i guess there's some comfort to be taken in that fact that people are looking, and care enough to get involved in the search.

sending positive thoughts your way

Re: Your favourite 'ish flavoured book

Has anyone else come across John Lane's "Timeless Simplicity: Creative Living in a Consumer Society"? I found it really inspiring. It's not as practical as the already mentioned (and excellent) John Seymore, but it's all about improving life through living simply, as written in the blurb: ...

Re: Arthritis pains

A 'using food as medicine' book I have recommends chilli to help relieve the pain- a particular drink, a heated up mix of chilli, coconut milk and white rum is worth a try. I have rheumatoid arthritis myself, which I use as an excuse to drink this! think the rum might be the main painkiller to be ho...

Re: Mushroom ramble in the West Midlands

I only just saw this thread and was so disappointed- I would've loved to have gone on the 12th! Not far from me at all. Although good news about the ramble this weekend. Will do my best to come along and bring some fellow foragers.

Thanks very much for posting about it :thumbright:

Hello from Birmingham!

Hi all, I've been registered for a while but haven't mustered up the minerals to post so far... and this seems to be a good place to start! The site is fab, and this forum seems excellent, so many great ideas and anecdotes in one place, what a goldmine! I'm very much a novice at being self-sufficien...
