My husband is going to make me some raised beds for the side of my garage, out of some pallets we have managed to get hold of.
The reason for the raised beds is twofold, one I have a disc injury in my neck so gardeing is easier if higher and secondly their is hardly an actula soil by the side of the garage, mosty footings and sand.

I already have two raised beds one has goooseberries and blueberries, the other rhubarb, black currants and blackberries.

Anyway as I said this is a south facing wall about 16 feet long and I would like to plant something "different" and not too expensive

Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you.

do you have space for trees? - fan trained. you could consider cherry, apricot

or how about kiwi fruit? - its a climber so will need support..

If you go for a Kiwi, make sure it's a self-pollinating variety - the majority aren't.

I'd go for vines. meself.

A boy and at least 4 girls is best, according to my neighbour's son.

Thankyou for the suggestions, I may well try a kiwi fruit and somebody else has suggested a cherry.

What about a fig? They are doing well in the UK now and they like their roots a bit restricted so a raised bed would suit them. They also grow naturally in a vaguely fan-shaped way so all it would take would be a little encouragement from you and they'd be well trained
