how do i attatch a pic to a post?

get yourself a free hoster like photobucket or piclynk, follow their upload instructions. they're really very easy to use even if your skills extend only so far as to switch the computer on and get the internet open!

copy the line of code beginning with [img] NOT <ahref> or <http>
paste into a post on here.

incidentally, unlimited photohosting can be done on www.bayimg.com but it does require you knowing how to write bb code/html.

Just found this thread. I also want to be able to attach pictures. I now have an account with Photobucket which I understand is the first step. I now need to load my pictures onto photobucket but am unable to do so. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

The new uploader at Photobucket is Flash-based I think so you may need to have the latest version installed (http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH). Once you log in you should then see a big blue button labelled "Choose Files" around the middle-right of the pag. Click that and you can start selecting files to upload...

There should also be a link to the old non-Flash uploader too

It is now even easier to attach a picture.

when you are posting, just below the submit button there is a section that says "Upload attachment",
click 'Browse' and look for the photo you want to upload
and then click "upload the file".

after the photo is uploaded you can click on "place inline"

I expect they need to be reduced first though.

Tried it using the John Headstrong method but no luck. However the instructions do not match the wording on the page. Although I am computer illiterate so really need my hand holding.

Try this.

Click 'Post Reply'

Beneath the typing window I can see a smaller window with the heading 'Upload attachment'

Filename - and an option to browse for a file - choose the one you want to share (hopefully if it's a pic it won't be too large)

File comment - a description (if required)

Then click 'Add the file'

Wait for the pop up window to do it's bit - click 'place inline' - this doesn't appear to make much of a difference, although you will see the code for the photo in your 'typing window'

Then submit your post

Shirlz, Thanks for that. Eventually got a message that the file is too big. Max allowable size 256Kb. I am trying to download 1 photo. I now need to find what size my photos are and downsize them if possible? More help appreciated.

Hi Shirlz, Yes that is the problem. My photos are 2.6Mb or there abouts. Can I resize them?

Yes - you can resize them. Do you have any photo software on your computer?

If not, there are various online options, including www.picnik.com or http://picasa.google.com/ (this one you have to download to your computer).

Personally I think I'll stick with Flickr and just upload the code from there.
