hmmmmm - not so sure about prefering cucumbers - they can't cut the lawn or get the drinks in and they come in your salad!!

In answer to the serious question, perhaps it is just the fact that there really aren't 101 uses for old tyres, tetrapacks, pairs of tights etc!
