I have just started my first attempt at making a cheese. I always start simple cos that's the sorta joker I am, so I have tried a cream cheese.

Now seein as the reason I am trying to make cheese is cos I hate to see anything waste, like the milk from our cow that we caint use, mean old bugger too, I am now faced with a similar problem.

If I am making cheese, is there any use I can find for whey????

You can make more cheese from it - I'll find the recipe.

You can ferment it and make Blaand...

Drink it.... feed it to the animals.... I'm sure there is more.

isn't ricotta cheese made from whey?

You can use it in baking, for bread or scones (and probably cakes, too - haven't done that yet).

And you can fatten pigs on it!

We'll see it fattening me too I suppose.

I shall remember that, I need to gain 30 pounds after being sick for a few years.

When I get my goats I shall try that-Shirlz, please PM me or email me with the Blaand recipe too.

And I shall look for a ricotta recipe as well.

Did anyone come up with that Blaand Recipe? Will be starting a cheese batch soon, and would hate to throw something good awhey!!!

I've not got a recipe - but am sure that there is one out there somewhere. You can buy blaand under the name fallachan... made by the man that makes the blue cheeses -

Yup, tht's the one i always come across when searching the net, that and historic sites that mention it. But no recipes. Looks like i'll have to go and accost an old couple on the isles.
