101 uses for Baking Soda

This one should be pretty easy...
1) Mix into a paste with water and apply to insect bites to relieve itching
2) Sprinkle on carpet and vacuum to neutralise smells
3) If you have food stuck to the bottom of a pot (and it wont come off) boil some water and baking soda in the pot for a few minutes, it helps lift off the food

4. Mix a teaspoonful of bicarb into half a glass of tepid water to cure upset stomach.
5. Make a volcano out of plasticene, place on the kitchen draining board and fill the crater with bicarb and powdered food colouring or paint if you have any. Then allow small children to drip vinegar on and make the volcano explode. Keeps children happy for hours, although you may later discover that your houseplants have been pressed into service as a "jungle" surrounding the volcano, populated with plastic dinosaurs and little green army men.
6. Make home-made baking powder by mixing bicarb with cream of tartar
7. Mix bicarb with citric acid and a spritz of essential oils then pack firmly into a suitable sized container. Carefully turn out and allow to dry. Bath bombs.

I get mine from the bulk food binns at the supermarket, though its not always there

I'm getting confused.
Baking soda? Bicarbonate of soda? Are they the same? What about baking powder?
What are we talking about here?

Baking soda and bicarbonate of soda are the same thing. its great stuff, has a million and one uses, so i figured we could think of 101. I've also heard that it can be used in home made cleaning products, though i dont have any recipes.
I think baking powder something else, a much weaker version of baking soda or something

Chickpea's no. 6 tells you how to make baking powder.
Bicarbonate of soda works as a raising agent when you add an acid to it i.e. yoghurt, buttermilk, soured milk or milk + lemon juice.
Baking powder already has this acid added to it in powder form.

Mix in with melted sugar; leave to cool; dip in chocolate; make your own Crunchy bars (according to some TV programme I saw the other day)

Sorry lost track of numbers...I just sprinkle it on the sink, etc. for a gentle abrasive action..
