Transporting chooks...?

Hi,

I don't have any birds yet but am going to Clitheroe next week on the look out. I have just thought 'What will I put them in to get them into the car then out of the car and onto the allotment?' Can I use a cardboard box with holes in it? Will I be provided with such a thing if I buy some birds? Should I invest in a transport cage?

What do you guys use when moving chooks about?

Matt.

I've just used strong cardboard boxes with air holes in and put a bit of newspaper and bedding in the bottom

Hi 2steps,

Cardboard boxes do seem to be the order of the day so that's what I'll use.

Thanks,

Matt.

Definately take a box or two Matt. If you don't they could possibly be bagged by the seller... and that is not very pleasant at all. For you or the chook!
