right then we always have campaigns and such on here and try and highlight what we can do as individuals. The big ask campaign for example, that was a great sucess. Contacting every local MP in the country and getting them to make a stand about climate change. So what else is there that we should be contacting our local(and worldwide) politicians about? - I have contacted mine about a few things, taking a while to get back.

1. Increase local transport and lower costs
2. Educate everyone on lowering waste and increasing recyling
3. Put pressure on chains to lower waste packaging.

4. make it easier for people to recycle
5. stop shops giving out carrier bags for even the tinest purchases
6. teach children from a young age about recycling etc so it seems the norm. maybe introduce schemes to reward people who do recycle. Not neccesarly on a personal level but maybe estate wide. a new playground could be built or extra opening hours for the library ? not sure if that could work but a nice idea

12 Since there is to be a 20% increase in housing in the North East - how about making sure that the houses that are built are more ecologically sound.
13 And while we are at it what about trying to do something about sexism in the construction industry, especially since there is a big push for women to train in the trades
14 And how about a big kick up the bot for the Equal Opportunities Commission - they have no teeth and can't actually do anything about sex discrimination!
BTW - Please excuse the rant, but Im a trainee sparky trying to break into the industry and being turned down because I dont have the right "lunch box  "
