Get the forum to just show me last updated posts?

Perhaps it is something to do with the migration but I used to be able to see posts by the last updated, rather than having to look at all of the separate forums one by one.
I totally expect this is due to my technical incompetence and I have missed it - but could someone please tell me how?

I use the Quick Links / New Posts item in the top banner.

Yes, Keith is right. The "Quick links" tab is over on the left in the top bar, in case you missed it.
Also if you're not getting email notifications when a thread that you've posted in is updated, you can set that up in your personal "User control panel"
Click your name over on the extreme right of the top bar, then select "Board preferences" and then "Edit notification options"
There are quite a few options there to make life simpler.
