Comfrey root cuttings

Hi there -

I bought some Bocking 14 root cuttings and have had them planted as per the instructions for several weeks now. Nothing has happened! Do I need to give up on these and get some plants from somewhere, or are they sometimes a bit slow?

Many thanks, Hannah x

I would be patient personally

Comfrey is pretty tough, and everything is a bit behind here this year

I think mine have taken about 6 to 8 weeks in the past.

My outside comfrey has started to come up, it is still in a pot, I also have some little cuttings I took last year in the tunnel which are starting to leaf up. If you are worried, if you have put them into a pot, turn the pot upside down into your hand and just see are there any roots showing, if not you could always have a good look (if you potted them which I would have done with cuttings) and do a bit of a post mortem thing, see if the cutting is still plump and not soggy, it is not unheard of for comfrey cuttings to not come to anything, my first ones never amounted to anything, also I am female and far more impatient than these two and have to poke around and never leave things alone

I checked them this morning - one has a little root poking out! It's on the side I put uppermost, but I don't want to disturb it so I'm hoping it will turn itself around somehow (or should I move it?). I really hope the others take. I wanted 3 or 4 plants and have got six cuttings, so fingers crossed it will be OK :)
