how awful - it's the same when dog owners fed their dogs loads of junk not realising the harm they are doing - it makes me cringe everytime i see an owner with a fat dog waddling - why?

unless there is a medical problem (either physical or mental) it is quite simple = consume more than the necessary calories needed then the body gains weight!!!!!

personally, I think this is worse than overfeeding a dog. This is a conscious choice to make the dog look stupid. Any dog that I've seen this done to has always looked embarrassed to be in that state.
Fat dogs although uncomfortable, usually look happy at least. And sometimes, it's hard to keep a dog's weight down, especially if they're like my Manchester Terrier, who steals anything and everything possible. We tried starving him, and cutting down on his food, but that lead to more stealing and more ingenious stealing and hiding. He goes walkies a bit more often and for longer now to keep his weight down.
