I grow most of my veg from seed but couldn't resist buying some melons which were grafted onto a winter squash plant. The squash is growing like the clappers and we're getting a good crop of melons. I'm tempted to hack back the parent squash plant, it is fruiting but my guess is the fruit won't be worth eating and we already have our selected winter squash planted out. What would you lot do?

I have never grown grafted plants but I'm a bit confused, I would have thought that the host (rootstock) would have been pruned off before you bought it. You wouldn't buy a grafted fruit tree or a rose bush with growing shoots from the rootstock or it would grow away strongly at the expense of the scion.
I would most definitely cut the squash shoot off so that the roots can devote all their energy to the melons.
