Shirley Poppies started to bloom today. Most if not all home garden poppies are of the type Shirley (Papaver rhoeas), if not the opium type Papaver somniferum, which flower slightly later than the Shirley. The seed is from self seeding and sometimes I scatter seed around in the Fall, and let them bloom where they pop up. One plant produces around a hundred blooms.
