Now that the world cup is over for England (and Australia before that) there is an abundance of world cup flags, rattles, hats and all the other cheap tat that has gone with it this year. So to save a world cup land-fill filling up has anyone any ideas what to do with all this tat?

- To get the ball rolling you could use four of the car flag poles to keep netting up to protect small brassicas from the birds.

2. Save them for the next time!

Ha Ha, never thought of that one, quite obvious really.

3. Put on scottish roofs and through scottish letterboxes.

After the England vs Paraguay match, the number of mangoes bought in T***o increased by 500% because of the amount of 'south american themed' parties taking place. Enough said.

Paint over with the French colours and send them to me. I'll distribute them to the neighbours!

Went to the hairdressers yesterday and the salon was all decked out in French footie bunting and flags. I had a hard time trying to explain that I just couldn't give a **** about football and really wasn't upset about England losing!

At the local builders merchants they even had England wheelbarrows. At least they'll be useful after the World Cup is over. And with a bit of luck the tacky English flag will have been covered with cement and muck. (I should be more patriotic!

It's quite amazing the amount of crud they have managed to produce and how it's all half price or less now!

When I was there in May I found it really irritating seeing so many cars flying the England flag. What really annoys me is how people only get patriotic about their country when it comes to sport, whilst the rest of the time they don't like it - or hate it so much they leave in their droves and go to France and Spain. (I'm not one of them BTW, we left due to my hubby's work.)

I'm not much of a footie fan either, until recently the last game I watched was the one where Southgate missed the penalty in Euro '96 - I was gutted and vowed never to watch another game. That was until Saturday when I again watched England loose. I might wait another 10 years to watch their next game, hopefully they'll have improved by then.

4) Anyway, another use for the flags would be to sew them together and dye them to make a picnic blanket. It's a tough 101 uses for this one as most of the stuff really is just crap.

5. sew 2 flags together and make a sleeping bag liner or cover for the kids

6. make sacks out of the fags and have sack races with your friends just like school sports day lol

7. make a washing bag out of 2 flags for the kids room it might even encourage them to put there washing in it

8. Collect loads and sell them back for Euro 2008 to the people who gave you them.

Hey manxminx, I lived for 5 years in IOM running the chemist down in Castletown. I bought a Union Flag phone skin to annoy the girls... and then it spread to keyrings, t-shirts, jackets... I can't lose my stuff because it always stands out so well (but I also can't holiday anywhere were the English aren't popular)!

Let's not forget the classic uses for the stuff.
10. Wave at random sporting events whenever there are british competitors, displaying a complete disregard for the difference between English, British and Commonwealth.

11. Place flags on car to deliberately reduce fuel economy by up to 10%

12. Cut the flags up and use as a cleaning cloth for around the house~

A bit more of sewing and you'll have your very own set of shopping bags! Or make bigger ones for recycling bags.
