Ginger beer

Post: # 251007Post Magpie »

I've started a ginger beer plant, using raisins to grow the yeasts. The plant got very bubbly, but it has been bottled for a week now, but hasn't fizzed like I thought it would - the bottles are getting harder, but haven't had to let any gas out yet. We have tasted it, and it's not very ginger-y either. How long should it take to be ready to drink?

Ive just made some but with bread yeast. Recipe says to bottle for 10 days before drinking. Hope that helps

Thanks - about day 10 now, and the bottles are getting harder. Just have to be patient I guess - I think I was just expecting it to be different, with all those stories of exploding bottles!
