9 February 2011. Six varieties of tomato seeds were planted indoors. Four seeds per pot which will be thinned to one per pot as they get larger. The variety chosen are, Manitoba, Black Cherry, Black Krim, Supersonic, Early girl, Lemon boy. The pictures depict the planting method.

The coffee filter prevents soil from leaking out of the drain holes, and sort of contains the roots to facilitate transplanting. The plastic bag keeps the humidity high until germination. After germination the bag is removed and the plants exposed to maximum sunlight. The seedlings will be left in the containers until quite large, then transplanted into a larger pot as required. I only grow about 25 tomato plants so the task is not too onerous.
