A Tad Breezy.
Just wondered how -ish members are doing through all this breezy stuff we're having....... how are we doing? It's been a force 8 gusting 10 here and it made walking in town yesterday rather interesting, feet being swept from under you! Nothing has gone missing from the garden although anything likely to be blown was put in the garageand we still have a roof.

Much the same here, spent ages picking up all the fallen apples, though as fast as we pick the more that fall
Dave's managed to get the lawns mown though so garden looks instantly tidier as it picks up the leaves too.

The skin on our polytunnel is ripped to shreds - fortunately we've finally managed to buy all the parts to upgrade to twinwall polycarbonate so it's saved us a job removing it
Otherwise we haven't set foot out of the house, other than to get wood and coal for 3 days!

Wow guys. I didn't realise you were having it so rough up there. We had a slight breeze yesterday but nothing like you've had. I hope it settles soon for you and you don't suffer any more damage.

oh my...Green Aura wrote:The skin on our polytunnel is ripped to shreds
I've only just marked an area out for my polytunnel and laid some plastic and other stuff over the grass to start to kill it down - have put loads of timber and stones along it to try and keep it down - so far it's not escaped (much) - have rescued my compost bin from over the fence twice though - at least it's not gone as far as into the burn or half way up the field this time - doesn't seem to matter how many stones/ slabs i put on top of it, lol
The hailstones battering off the windaes are fun too, at least there were some sunny spells in between, earlier today

It's a little calmer at the moment although it will be coming back round to gales in a while. We had a TV transmitter struck by lightening on Friday afternoon which is back on now but parts of the island and smaller islands have no electricity. The Churchill Barriers have been closed several times as the waves can sweep cars off or smash windscreens so yes, it's been interesting........but not a lot about it up here on the news.

Gosh! Haven't had any wind or even breeze where I live!
Hope it's calmed down now.

Still a bit blustery, MMM, but nothing unusual for this time of year. The problem was that we'd all been seduced by an extra month of fabulous weather so when the wind hit it came as a bit of a surprise.

Well, I already had the storm armour on the greenhouse down at the allotment, so hopefully it's all still there... Not likely to be able to check until the weekend now though, what with it being pitch dark long before I leave work.
Cheers

Re: A Tad Breezy.
That's a shame about your polytunnel Green Aura. Hope your superdooper reinforced one works next time then. Fruitcake hope your plastic ground cover stays put. A guy here had one of those large plastic boxes outside for storage and even with the top padlocked it's top was ripped clean off and he can't find it anywhere! It's a bit better now here MMM, just the usual. Gregorach hope everythings okay at the lotty.

I shouldn't have opened my mouth because guess what - it's breezy here today.
Not high wind or anything, but to be honest we haven't had any wind to speak of for ages! Forgot what wind chill factor meant.

Yes, I spoke too soon too. In Cheltenham on yesterday it was pretty nasty but nowhere near as bad as you Scots had it. I saw the flooding on the news, I hope none of our crew was affected.
