We are now digging out all the stuff shoved in various corners ready to pack our cottage up.
I've discovered a lovely small woollen pile rug which OH must have brought back from a trip to North Africa. It has a huge splash of white candlewax on it, probably about 4 inches square, which seems not to have been noticed and which has dried solid. I'm not sure how to get it off. It seems to be mainly stuck on top of the pile rather than soaked in but doesn't seem to want to be scraped off either. Any ideas?

Candlewax in the carpet
Growing old is much better then the alternative!
Re: Candlewax in the carpet
put an absorbent cloth/piece of kitchen roll over it and iron it to warm it up and melt it; scrape off as much as possible; pour a little boiling water over what's left and mop up by dabbing not rubbing with a towel, or facecloth or something similar.

Brown paper bag and an iron (just make sure the iron is not too hot as it can scorch the carpet).
