I'm surprised the EC Commission have only known this since 2001,it's been discussed by farmers,including on 'Farming Today' for at least 20yrs.Sadly,it's the only thing thats effective on some real threats to the enviroment eg Knotweed so an outright ban might be counterproductive.It's not used any where as much as it once was,though I think this is as much to do with the cost as any enviromental considerations,in fact in many ways farmers faced with lower margins(even the biggest) are using less and less chemicals............cue,no doubt,huge promotional push by the agro- chemical industry in the 3rd World.......
