Not laying much

I have 4 exbats, got them February last year so had them about 16 months. Not sure of age when I got them.
They didnt lay for first couple of months and then didnt stop ! Laid an egg or sometimes two thru the winter and this spring were at 3-4 a day. All of a sudden a few weeks ago they are down to 1-2 a day. They have also stopped roosting on the pole and tend to sleep in nesting boxes, not sure if this is significant, but is the only other thing to change. Food [organic gm free layers pellets] etc is all the same, they come into garden/grass most days for an hour or so, then are in a covered run.
Any suggestions ? how long do they live after they go off laying ? not sure if I can afford to keep feeding them if they arent going to be productive.
