Afew months ago, well at end of Feb, my son had his flat burgled, and they basically cleared him out.they took clothes, FOOD !!, and obviously the "good "stuff, camera ( he´d just got at Christmas), ipod, laptop.

I´d only just got hinm the laptop, and still 18mths to pay.......

Anyway....
yesterday with his GF they went into a shop (cash converters) to look for a headset for her...and lo and behold,
there on display was his laptop!... much talking etc.went back this morning to try prove it was his, and vendor aslo asked to come in ( no show)

It hadnt even been wiped...... still showed his username etc and all his files................ AND.... they looked at list of what the guy had sold............. and he got his camera back as well.........

had the serial no and everything, but much easier, when they started it up, and there was his name!

guess it was just quick cash, although they did wait about 5 weeks before sellingit all opff, along with loads of stuff that wasnt my son´s!

well yes........ and they have the guy´s details, and had to show ID......, but obviously they don´t much care!

no idea.........., guess they should inform them. but will they? Dont really care atthis point!

The thing is , nothing was done originally! 99.99999999% ( etc) likelihood that thief was girl who was supposed to be moving in as flat sharer, she had key, wasin the place less than 1 hrbefor theft discovered, ANDseen leaving in a gurry ( with bags ) by neighbour.......

BUT... becuase no force entry and value for each victim ( flatmate also cleaned out) too low, the judicial system here , means they couldnt do anything ! even provided iwth name tel no.and later address when she was seen nearby and ascertained to be living there!

She´d have beeen in the cells in the UK straightaway!

Basically he recognised it, because of a scratch on the lid ( he dropped it!).so very lucky!

glad you got some stuff back without it being wiped. Case converters totally f****ed up. Report this to the police, if you gave the serial numbers then it should have been spotted and the thief picked up as soon as they tried to sell the stuff.
