Gosh, the list could go on. A couple of names I've discovered only in the past few years are Joe Henderson (I got into his work after falling in love with his tune Black Narcissus while playing with a jazz band) and Hiromi (an awesome pianist from Japan - her work tends towards the fusion end of things but led with piano).

thats the idea Wulf. I can't afford to buy music anymore so I need inspirations to listen to on spotify.

I'm big into jazz and collecting all the records i like but i tend to go for the later stuff, maybe that is a bit more fusion or prog. Love lots of artists and can't narrow it down to just one in particular!

I should be heading to bed soon but tomorrow I'll try to remember to send some recommendations for things you can find on Spotify.

have you tried grooveshark? not sure how much jazz it does but it seems to cover the early 90's obscure stuff I want.

Re: Who's your Favourite.... Jazz Musician
I listen to a lot of Jazz mainly bebop and newer. Not a big fan of earlier stuff but I can still listen to it.
There are some fantastic Jazz artists around in the UK at the moment many of the straight off degree courses so in their early twenties.
Portico Quartet are very good using unusual percussion in the 'Hang' I have seen them a couple of time and they are great.
Other bands and artists I am listening to at the moment include Polar Bear, Hungry Ants, Finn Peters, Led Bib, WBZ, Fraud and Trio VD.
Chris Potter is a fantastic tenor player
Dave Holland Sextet
Soweto Kinch mixes bebop alto lines with rap, Hip-Hop and humour
Sax quartets I am listening to at the moment include Itchy fingers, Brass Jaw (Sax quartet + Trumpet), and check out Sax-O-Matic on youtube, they are very funny and talented.
Probably my favourite artist at the moment is Gilad Atzmon. I went to see him a few weeks ago and he completely blew me away. He has changed the way I play sax for ever. All of his albums are on spotify plus there is an album with Robert Wyatt called For the ghosts within and it is one of the mosy beautiful albums I have ever listened to.
more later as and when i think of them
