Which Lettuce varieties can I put in now?

Hi all!
We are well into harvesting season now and reaping the rewards of the years hard work, sunshine and raindrops. Wev'e had such a good year with carrots, brocoli, sweetcorn, spinach. tomatoes, onions and potatoes still gracing our dinner plates!
However; the raised beds in the garden are now looking quite bare and I am keen to start off for next year. For the most part I will leave particularly frost tender plants till its warmer- march?
In an attempt to to kick start things, yesterday (as well as the herbs for indoors) I sowed peas, beans and spring cabbage for early cropping, I sowed these into modular trays and these are now resting by the window in the utility room, which is the room with the closest temp to outdoors I guess? I would like to get some tips on direct sowing, as this is something i have never really done? always been a bit timid about it?
I have sowed directly into our 'salad bed' chard, mizuna, rocket, spinach and a red salad bowl lettuce. The latter was a bit of an experiment, I would like to put some more lettuce in and wondered if anyone knows of particularly frost hardy varieties that will crop into december?
