Could we get a dedicated section for the likes of home made cheese, yoghurt, soap etc - problems, and tips etc. PLEASE? PRETTY PLEASE?

Ok if there are any objections please post here, if not will try it out for a bit and see how popular it is.

Wouldn't that be a bit confusing - preserving could then go under homebrew and preserving, or in the new section... I would at the moment expect cheese to go under preserves (because it's a way of preserving milk); yoghurt rather under cooking - because it's for short term; well, and the soap is the one that doesn't at the moment fit in anywhere...

I'm not against a new section, I think we'd have to be careful though how we word the title, so that it's absolutely clear what goes where!

I was thinking about this last night, perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to extend the scope of the home brew and preserving section to include home mades?

Any good ideas for a title? If we just call it something like "all things home made", that could include cooking - so it would have to be a bit better defined. Unless we want to include that, too - don't know how busy these sections are, and whether it would make sense to combine them? I could definitely live with that. You could then look in one section for, say, everything you can do with rhubarb, from wine to jam and cake...

the river cottage forum has a 'processing and other crafts' board - that might cover it.

Something like that will do yes, I think we have to be orginal. - how about this for the title and blurb.

Make it yourself

Homebrew, preserving, cheese, soap in fact if you can make it and it does not belong in the cooking section then here it goes. An area for all problems to be asked, tips to be given and prcedures shared.

Any good?

That sounds just about right Andy. Should be a useful addition to the site.
