Came in from the garden for lunch, put the news on the tele, and caught the soldiers marching through Winchester. So moving. I have always been opposed to the war, but seeing those young men made me realise just how brave they are, and what we owe them. Made me weep! Back down the garden now!!! pbf.

I don't support war either but I do support our poor troops... some of them don't look old enough to be out of school!!

I work with soldiers and I have to say that they are a great bunch of lads/lassies. So polite and ready to do anything for you. I too shed a tear every time I see them marching on the tv and I think of the loved ones who will not be watching their son or daughter march again. Whatever the politics of the war, these guys deserve our support.

If I might just share something that a friend has posted on another forum (kite flying)

"Thought i'd share this as it made my day after the woeful football....

The hotel i work in hosts the Red Arrows whenever they're doing anything up in the NW and they were due to be with us this weekend.

We also have a dozen quite arrogant German guests staying who were in the bar in quite high spirits this afternoon after tonking us in the football. The Germans were starting to get quite loud and offensive and being overtly rude to the staff and other people in the resturant and we were about to ask them to leave.

Unbeknown to them (and us) one of the Red Arrows had come in early in his civvies and was sat quietly on his own chilling out and getting somewhat erked by the lary gits. He was seen to make a phone call and then come back and sit down and wait. Smiling.

About 30 minutes later the rest of the Red Arrows arrived........

One by one they entrered the bar, dressed in full flight gear - helmets an all, each humming there own section of The Dambusters Theme, the first 2 guys in were quietly humming the build up bit of the tune and as the rest of them arrived they worked up to a cresendo which had the whole bar joining in.

The main guy then came up to the bar and proudly said " Which of you fine British people would like another drink? Courtesy of Her Majesties Royal Air force"
