Suggestions for Autumn planting for child's garden bed?

My three year old decided he wanted a garden today (well he decided he wanted MY vege patch) so I leapt at the idea and we quickly constructed a no dig bed for him before he went off the idea. He was remarkably helpful which was refreshing!
If you ask him what he wants to grow in it you get a list "pumpkin, potatoes, tomatoes, strawberries, blackberries" but of course we should really plant something easy and rewarding to grow so he gets the most joy from it (I let him choose some plants last year- his great lakes lettuces were 9 months old before they grew big enough to eat and the spring onions were abysmal) so I thought I should get a shortlist of things to plant coming into Autumn (because were are all upside down here). Any suggestions welcome- edible is good but even decorative will do just to give him some (good) ideas!
TIA
