Blueberry Bush

I love blueberries and I have just picked up one in Wilkos for £3.00. I was going to grow it in a container, on deck on our barge, however a friend said that I need to grow two together. Is this right, do I need to go and buy another and are they then going to need a seriously big pot?

Thank you for coming back so quickly with that link. It was very informative. 2 bushes, 5ft apart is a seriously big pot!!!!!!! If I can't find a pot
that big (!) I will just get another plant and let them live side by side.

I grow mine in pots (wrong soil here) - one per pot and they do fine.

You don't need them in the same pots! just near each other.
And I was a loon enough to buy only one too. :/

I have a supposedly autofertile one but it's never produced very much fruit, but I don't know whether that's cos it was unhappy with yellow leaves or because I didn't have a 2nd bush. It's now residing in a tub of ericaceous compost even though I planted the thing into neutral ish soil where rhodos and camelias live happily and put a whole sack of e. compost in with it and leaf mould.
These blueberries must love
seriously acid soil.

Blueberries do like very acid soil. Thankfully we have that in the back garden.
To get the best from the one we have we do have to net it early or the birds will get to the fruit before we do and I don't want that!

I bought a chuck-out one for 50 cents at the warehouse (think t$$$$s) and planted it by itsself and brought it back to life - mulched with pine needles for the acid and it has given me a decent handful of little berries which is not bad given it is only 25cm high!

Thank you everyone, I think I will buy another bush and they can have their own little love nest in one corner! I have also read somewhere that it can take a couple of years before they fruit?
