I realise this could get out of hand, so am trying to list sites linking to a few places or places selling stuff I've found harder to get hold of made locally.

madeinlancs.co.uk - mostly food & arty gifts

www.madeincumbria.co.uk - online shop has candles, perfume & jewellry and lists various cumbrian made products plus farmers markets dates and some craft courses.

http://www.hottershoes.com/ shoes made in lancashire - pricey but no more so than any good quality shoes & big sale on now.

http://www.daleswear.co.uk/ Ingleton, north yorkshire - make their own fleeces & waterproof jacket, good prices - couldn't see any sign of these on website but I know they have them in the shop.

http://www.christy-towels.com/ towels made in Cheshire, not sure about the bed linen etc. (were loads of mills near me but last one shut down about two years ago when Dorma moved the production to China )

My mum seems to love them so I've just bought some for my step dad too.

The only trouble she has is they bleet when she walks .

ive tried knitting a pair of socks! still trying hard to get the technique right think im attempt no 3 i cant wait to master it as then i can justify getting a nice lovely ball of wool rather than the acrylic mix im practicing with.

My supply of wooly socks knitted by my great aunty Kitty (who died long before I was born and so came to me via my grandad then dad), is finally coming to the end of the road.

Though somewhat sad, this is also somewhat of a relief as whoever they were knitted for (my great uncle?) had much larger feet than me, so am looking forward to getting some wooly socks that actually fit me!

i purchased some thermals from British Thermals for my mum, she's very anti internet shopping and the cheecky beggers charged me for post and packaging despite my requesting they take it off.

It was meant to be free after £50

The thermals were fine I believe but , not great customer service.
