Here is what I harvested today, I am quite pleased, the parsnip is very large.

What did you harvest today? (Or in the days near to today!)

Parsnips!

And leeks, curly kale, rocket, spring onions and radishes, coriander and parsley. All ahead of the big freeze which has started and is going to get a lot colder with maybe snow!
I still have the last of my sungold cherry toms ripening on the kitchen table so we've been eating a few of them and I am hopeful there will still be a home grown tom to eat on Xmas day!

You've reminded me, beetroot too! It's good being able to make salad from the garden in December!
Must go and pull the rest of the 'troots as some forecasts show -9C for here next week.

Over xmas we will enjoy brussel sprouts, winter white cabbage, savoy cabbage, calabrese, black and russian kale, leeks, celeriac, beetroot, parsnips, various lettuce, lambs lettuce, purslane, land cress, mizuna, pak choi, parsley, chillies, and from store pumpkins, onion, shallots and garlic.
Who needs supermarkets when you have an allotment.

You haven't got any snow then?

I don't know if I will be able to harvest any kale for my Christmas dinner yet, and no chance of getting a leek out of the ground!

All my herbs and rocket have now had it thanks to the freezing weather.

We have some snow, a couple of inches, but the ground is not frozen and some things are in the polytunnel.

Had no luck getting a couple of leeks out today, ground is too frozen...to add insult to injury went arse over top on a patch of ice with the puppy and a basket of veg... am sure you've got a picture of the chaos that ensued
