OH went out this morning and put a tarpaulin over the chicken run! We did want to finish building the greenhouse - but there's no chance of that, my kitchen is sporting 2 airers of washing and the bathroom has 2 washing lines over the bath :( On the up side I have done lots of knitting - including most of my mums birthday present!

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Yup, I've been going mad on the crochet, but with two smallies its a bit of a grind as even when they're out in it they can't really play as the rains so heavy!

Oh poor you Susie - but why do builders have the bright idea of doing jobs like that in winter anyway? :dontknow:

Moi I WANTED the rain  and still need more, then it can stop! My pond finally filled up but it's only barely trickling over the overflow and it needs to rain a lot more to get the stream flowing faster so that we get the sound of running water again as it goes down the overflow properly!

So on wet and/or windy days I am enjoying being a slob as I've started knitting again, doing some cooking, and going to make some pumpkin chutney this week.

Maybe instead of an extension, you should consider a swimming pool

Maybe you should change your avatar to a rubber duck?

Me, I love the rain this year; it means I have to be indoors getting all those odd jobs done, ready to sell this place.

Its funny how weather extremes cause us to make changes to our best laid plans, for you folks it's the rain, for us it's the sun, it's not even true summer yet and already its hot enough to cook a new laid egg. I'm in the middle of making round and square planters for sale and its so hot by midday that I have to abandon any idea of outside work and the wind is so strong its shearing the tops of by beans.

But you have my sympathy as extreme rain is no help either

I was attempting to achieve reuse of my greenhouse and doing really well having cleared all the brambles out and off the top, had just put some new roofing on one end and that damn rainy wind took it all off again and scattered it all far and wide across five acres!!! :angryfire: so am still trying to acheive my useable greenhouse!

I've spent most of the past three years working in the rain. And gales. And sleet. And snow. We joke that summer lasts about five days—and even then it's wet.

It gets to the point where you don't notice that it's raining or that the wind is hitting 40mph. Instead, you find it bizarre when you go outside to sunshine, blue skies, and not a breath of wind.

Still, it's better than the long dry spell we had four years ago when our borehole ran dry and we found ourselves short of water. And mud is better than dust.
