Good-bye All

Post: # 167651Post yugogypsy »

I'm leaving Ish.

It seems the legal line is too hard for me to wsallow and I don't want to be fenced in.

Thankyou to those who've been kind and to those who haven't-I pity you for being so narrow minded.

Wombat, I still never received the solar info-but you have my email addy.

Thank-you Andy and Dave for creating a wonderful space I've enjoyed for over 2 years.

And to you rotten apples who spoil it :blackknight: I'll prove you WRONG yet.

Lois

I'm so sorry you feel you have to leave the forum, I love reading your posts.

Can I try to be a voice of reason if you are still checking messages?

On the face of it, it initially seems rather mean to stop you posting pictures of your daughter. I must admit I have no idea of the background here but it seems she was taken from you and adopted without your consent. The basic fact then becomes that you no longer have parental responsibility ie you can't post her pictures as you don't have "her" consent (for that read the consent of the person who DOES have that responsibility - whether it be temporary responsibility or otherwise). Moderators on forums have to be careful to adhere to rules which are designed to protect kids - there are some nasty people out there and they have full access to these forums. Very unfortunately a rule brought in with the very best intentions has stopped you posting a perfectly innocent (and very lovely - I did see it before it was pulled) photo. Sometimes you just have to accept the greater picture and not feel the finger is pointing at you!

Basically if you want to pass on copies of your own private pictures of your daughter then you can just attach them to a pm, they don't need to go onto the open forum.

Anyway, perhaps when you have cooled down a little you will stay to tell us more of your life in Canada.
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Please don't go. :( I saw the picture of your daughter, and she's beautiful. It is a shame that Admin decided they had to remove it, but there are legal issues surrounding putting pictures of children on the internet. I designed a website for an educational charity, and trying to find photos I could use showing the children having fun but without it being possible for them to be identified in any way was a nightmare. Ish is usually a warm, friendly place to be, but if we want to continue to enjoy each others company, we have to work together to ensure the site is allowed to continue, and if someone felt that the picture in some way jeopardized that, they had to take action. I'm sure it wasn't a personal attack.

Was it just about the picture, or was there something else? Why not tell us, and let's all have a discussion and see if we can resolve this? :hugish:

I think, Lois, you'd be better taking a little time to cool down and, possibly, think again - it would be a shame if you went away angry. The law as it stands isn't the responsibility of the mods, but it IS their responsibility to comply with it. Just one of those things, I'm afraid.

And it isn't TOO silly a law - imagine how anyone would feel if I went ahead and published photos of their children on the net - for who knows what reason? - without obtaining permission. I realise that your case is special and different but the law, unfortunately, hardly ever makes allowances for special cases. So, be angry with the law, sure, but not with Ish or its mods.

On top of that, everyone would miss you.

I can't access Facebook at the moment, but i did get your message.

When i can get my proxy up and running again (it keeps breaking, and in China, there is no Facebook without a proxy...), i'll message you back properly, because i'm not sure whether you will be checking your PMs here.

There are a umber of legal reasons why certain pictures have to be removed .You are not the only one, last time i had the unpleasant task of removing a picture. As a mod, we don't want to have the remove anything, or change anyone on the site, but we have to be very careful and try to protect people *puts on flourescent jacket*. There are good reasons why things have to be done.I have had to remove whole threads before, and people are never happy with the decisions to remove anything, but sometimes we have to. The internet safety post was written in reaction to a situation that we had not long ago where a member felt that their safety had been compromised. We had to react in a manner that upset a few people, but we have to care about everyone too.

I hope that you do read this, we do care, and we are here for you if you want to come back. If i wasn't having to hide behind proxy servers that decide when to work and no work, i would have messaged you back straight away on FB.

POST REMOVED DUE TO THREATS TO MODERATORS

I have removed the above post for amazingly breaking almost all the rules in one post, threats of violence against any users is not acceptable, threats against Admins is just stupid.

The users and moderators of this forum have shown yugogypsy nothing but love and respect.

yugogypsy choose to post a picture of her daughter, along with her full name.

The forum mods discussed the photo and I choose to remove the picture for child protection reasons.

the forum rules can be seen here http://www.selfsufficientish.com/forum/ ... 17&t=11583

there are not that many rules but we ask all users to respect them.
