Preserving ideas needed for grapes

Hi all,

just wondering if anyone had any recipes for about a pound of red grapes? I tried making a jam with green grapes a couple of years ago and it failed terribly!
Have looked in my lovely preserve book but the only recipe they can suggest is a syrup and I'd like to do a bit better than that.

Thanks,

Penny :flower:

Ha ha when I read that I thought of the obvious one, but with only a pound it probably wouldn't go very far! Couldn't you just eat them as is or put them in salad or fruit salad?

A pound of grapes wouldn't get you very far on any of those - maybe on jar of jelly... What's wrong with eating them? Least waste, best nutrition.

No help to you I'm afraid, but I have just bought a seedless green grape vine.
The plan is to dry the grapes to make my own sultanas as I eat a LOT of home made cake.
I tried it with a bunch of bought grapes and it worked very well and produced sultanas with a refreshing sharp tang.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

Ina, the grapes came from a crate that was given to us, the lb was the best I could get & I don't think they'll last long!

I'll give jam another go then

cheers

I've never tried it but traditionally bunches of grapes were preserved by putting the stalk into a bottle of water and kept in a cool place, this way the grapes would keep for several months.
