Moving garden wall!!

Where I live at the moment there is no possiblity of getting a lottie, as the local list has been closed. (Can't go to one further away due to lack of transport) I am looking for a way to increase the veg/fruit space that I have.

On the otherside of my garden wall is a smaller piece of land that also belongs to me, its planted with a couple of trees (which would be kept) and some bushes. The piece is in a triange shape and is roughly 25ft long, 6.5 ft at the widest point and narrows to 2.5ft. I am thinking of moving the wall to the edge of my land. But I have no idea of the cost, as its something that I would need to get someone to do. Do you think I might need planning permission? Any ideas would be great.

Thanks Nikki

you could do it on the sly and hope no one told the council
orr
you could contact the planning dept of the council and ask them what to do. you might need permission to erect it again after moving it. no harm in asking really =]

Knock a walkway through the wall put a nice arch over the opening, plant a nice rose , then drill holes along the top of the wall put in some posts a bit of trellis and grow some broad beans one side, and whatever you fancy the other side. I did this a few years back and it stayed that way for yonks.

P.S. it was free too.

There are rules about the height of garden boundaries, I think it's a maximum of four feet on the road side and six on all others. As long as the boundary doesn't exceed this then I don't think you need planning permission.

Walls however, are very expensive. You are probably looking into the thousands so I really would suggest you don't move it. As already said, walls are great for growing against.

If you do decide to go ahead, I can recommend a brickie who won't rip you off.

Cheers
Zoe
