I'm tempted to say, "Don't vote, it only encourages them!". However, this time, vote for anyone just to make sure the fascists don't get encouraged. (And there appears to be a strong possibility of it! :pukeright: ) God preserve us all from that eventuality!

Not voting doesn't achieve anything. If you are really frustrated about the state of things vote for one of the many independents or alternatives or at least spoil your ballot. But please, please, please don't dis-respect the people all over the word who have fought and died for their right to vote.

And please God, don't let the BNP get more power than they already have.

Did it first thing this morning, had to traipse round 4 different polling stations with my husband on crutches to do it though! (our polling cards got returned to sender as the day after we moved out of our house our landlord taped up the letterbox so we got none of our post forwarded).

Have been telling people all week to use their vote or they have no right to complain, and if they don't vote then they are disrespecting everyone who has fought for the vote - glad to see many on here are like minded.

The far right depend on people being lazy and not voting, the BNP depends on it, their supporters do vote and they get in with a tiny percentage cos the Lib/Lab/Con voters don't bother in local elections. The North west has a BNP european candidate wo may well get in cos 'we are not bothered'

Oh trust me, us Lib Dems get out & vote...we can't afford not to!

But I'm hoping this will prove to be my last British vote, unless G Brown DOES call a very quick General Election. Hope to be in RoI by xmas! Blame Ms Sherris.....

Oh I didn't know that - does everyone have 2 ballot papers then, one for Europe and one for their local area?

Obviously I only got the European one thru the post and as I don't watch that much news on telly I had no idea there were any local elections going on! Tho' hubby does watch the news every day and he obviously didn't know either cos he couldn't understand why they were blathering on about the NHS either!

I didn't bother with signing up for a postal vote for local elections for Merton borough in London - not a lot of point really is there?
