road trip.. the cd

Post: # 155292Post red »

We have, unfortunately and not very ishlike, had to make a number of road trips recently, due to going to a funeral etc.

These are to the wrong side of the country.. take ages, and one of our favourite ways to kill time is to dream up playlists based on a theme. we had a lovely time with 'bad taste funeral songs', have done 'space' as a theme too.. but at the mo we are on 'road trip' - and ... being fuddy duddy old farts wot don't own ipods.. plan to make a cd to play in the car.

So far we have:

I like trucking - not the nine o clock news

Beep Beep - the playmates

King of the road - version by the proclaimers

Convoy - from the film

Is this the way to Amarillo - Tony Christie

Radar love - Golden earing

The race - Yello

Road to nowhere - talking heads

Born to be wild - Stepenwolf

Mercedez benz - Janis Joplin

On the road again - Canned heat

Road rage - Catatonia

Roadhouse blues - The doors

The passenger - Iggy pop

I’ve been everywhere - Johnny cash

The Chain - Fleetwood mac

hit the road jack - the hit crew

take me home country roads.. - John Denver

So.. by now you can prolly work out im in my 40s... but the question is.. what road themed songs have we missed out?

The JCB song
Who's gona drive you home - by the Cars
I've set OH on to think of some more!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

There's one by Bob Dylan about '90 miles an hour down a dead end road' - that might even be the name of the song. Particularly appropriate (in a bad taste kind of way) for a road trip to a funeral?

the ever growing luvpie household currently contains, 4 boys, 4 chickens, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 fish, an empty tropical fish tank waiting new arrivals, now are we daft to look at our broody hen thinking, if we got some fertilised eggs........
