Things that make you smile...

Post: # 154496Post StripyPixieSocks »

What made you smile today?

I was signing up for a Photobucket account and found I already had one which I had forgotten about, once I signed in I found some photos and stuff I had long forgotten about including one of my Granddad I had scanned in for my Mom a few years ago: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stripypixi ... 551540684/

It immediately made me smile and I felt a bit strange really as last night I suddenly thought about my Grandma from out of nowhere... then today I found this photo of my Granddad!

Some of the best years of my childhood were spent following my Granddad around 'helping' him with his joinery (for joinery read being given two pieces of wood, a hammer and a pack of nails to ban in) and then spending the rest of the day cooking with my Grandma...

Lots of smiley moments today :cooldude: :sunny:

Aww SPS that's lovely! I'll add that to my list of smiles for today!
My biggest smile for today has been that the house martins have come back and started
to repair the broken nests just under our eaves. It's lovely to see them. It also made me giggle at the thought that we are so happy to see them back that we don't give a toss about the bird poo on the windows! We are so not about keeping up with the Joneses!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

We are just back in France and what made me smile today was that our little cat, let outside for the first time, managed to find her way back after disappearing for an hour. Talk about over-protective...
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

I got a card this morning from my 4 year old grandson who is just learning his letters......... it was lovely to see the word "granny" written by him and he also drew a pic of his granny doing the gardening. That really made me smile! :flower:

Baby swallows only just fledged sitting on the telephone cable beside the house - still with remnants of their wide baby mouths and little stubby tails, with mum feeding them on the wing. Made my day. :flower:

3 year old daughter coming out with really big words. This morning she told me something was a 'gate responsibility'. She didn't pronounce 'great' right, but 'responsibility' was spot on. The other day, after completing a painting she came out with 'mission accomplished'. Turns out she got that from Postman Pat!

Little Leah yesterday FINALLY unpacking the box that Muddywitch had left here for her..... some absolutely wonderful beautiful pieces in there too.... and she burst into tears when she opened the box of marbles.....apparently, it was 'just what she always wanted for the whole of her life!!!'........

Ah well, little things......

Also.... there were two plate spinners with poles.... and I sat watching 5 yr old Leah spinning after 2 or 3 attempts... whilst 27 yr old Gail spent over an hour and still couldn't do it
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

Susie that makes me laugh too - funny little things - and the way their little tails wag when they are feeding!

It's lovely, clear blue sky here today so I have the windows open and my Lavender is starting to bud for the first time

Bill Baileys Profiterole guilt tweets also made me giggle this morning...

... and... well... everything is alot less stressful lately with Pat being on the mend so it's big smiles all around here at the moment

My big fat fluffy cat strolling in after rolling around in the grass, trying to look dignified with sticky buds stuck all over her!

The sounds of summer... Swallows chirping, lawn mowers, birdies cheeping... there is a particular sound to summer that is an instant cheerer-upper and today it is making me smile.

Also the realization that I don't take the sound of summer for granted and actually acknowledge it and am grateful that I can hear and see it... that makes me smile too!

Getting a griddle and a meat grinder from Freecycle allowing us to do more things ourselves and not have to rely on stupormarkets (thanks Emma for making me laugh at that word and it's stuck).

Checking out Danson Park on the way back from the Freecycle trip and making plans for a picnic by the lake sometime later this week.

My OH working away on a video tutorial he made earlier today on real time crumpet making.

Making plans and researching how to keep an Axolotl because OH said I could have one when we move to our new flat... although he probably only agreed to that to stop be nagging and begging for a Chameleon

All in all it's smiles all round today :sunny:
