Time to vote for your favorite limerick
I have looked at the competition entries for this month, thank you to everyone who entered. I was really pleased with the response and many of you seemed to join in. Anyhoooo, here are the four that I have chosen. I ended up choosing the ones that made me laugh the most, simple as that! So sorry if yours did not, it does not mean your not funny as I have an odd sense of humour at the best of times.
Please take a vote on which one you think should win. Voting ends 22nd May. Did anyone know it was national limerick day today?
There was an 'ish' man called Reggie,
Who grew & ate his own veggie,
But his wife (named Pam),
Said "i want to make jam",
So he grew some fruit in his false leggy. – pumpy
there was a group called ish
who inspired a young missus
she grew her own veg
and dug her own beds
untill one day she fell in her compost bin Russian Doll
T'was a man who planted veg n' fruit,
He stuck a parsnip into a hob nail boot,
He tried to find a wife,
To complete his goodlife,
But scared them all with his knobbly root! – Happyigloo
There was a young man called Santosh
Who grew his own butternut squash
Now his body is healthy
And wallet is wealthy
'Cos shop bought food is just tosh – Mal

I'm voting happyigloo because it's amusing, not entirely sure what RussianDoll wrote but it doesn't stick to the rules of a limerick

Re: Time to vote for your favorite limerick
I'm not voting for anyone, because none of my finely crafted, subtly pointed, carefully worded exemplars of the epitome and apex of english language skill made it for consideration. If you wanted random entries, with questionable scan and rhyme, you should have said so. If you wanted limericks, then that was what I provided.
Still, it's your competition. I abide by your judgement. Let no more be said. We can pretend that a joke and a limerick are the same thing, if it pleases you to do so.
Best wishes, 2ndRateMind. (pedantically)

Personally I don't get Russian Doll's one either but the first and last ones are pretty OK as far as limericks go in terms of scan and rhyme.
Anyway voting is over apparently so I guess we can see who the winner is but will have to wait for Andy to announce it!

Ok, the winner is Mal. I will be getting in touch you shortly to get your address, well done.
Ok, now it is time to think up the next competition and to get hold of some prizes. Perhaps if anyone has some suggestions for what to do for the next competition? I was thinking Haiku, but the jury is already out on what constitutes a Haiku in English form and I don't want to start an international incident!

Thanks very much, I'd like to thank my parents, my grand parents but most of all Mrs Mal who's been a tower of strength through the ups and downs of the creative process and stuck with me through my stints in the Priory.
I love you all,
Mal
