Hospital food petition
Is it OK to start a new thread to bring this petition to more people's attention?
On another thread, StripyPixieSocks has been talking about her partner who is in hospital and being served some pretty awful food. From the replies, it seems there are quite a few people who have experienced bad food in hospitals. Now Stripy is a bit busy at the moment, which is why I'm writing this and not her, but she's started a petition to have hospital food improved. As I write this there are 106 signatures. Please will you sign it, and pass it on for others to sign. It would be great if while SPS is tied up with her hospital visits if we could really pull together to get as many signatures as possible.
Here's the link to the petition - http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/FoodForHospitals/

Re: Hospital food petition
I signed this a couple of days ago and have now passed on the link via email to various friends so hopefully they will do the same.
Is this SPSs own petition or an appropriate one she found online? I think it may have been around for a while.
Anyway, I hope quite a few more people will sign it and something useful will come of it.

Growing old is much better then the alternative!
Re: Hospital food petition
No, it seems it was started by a magazine that no longer exists
..... hmmm..... still worth signing though, they have to answer these things you know, they have to tell us what they intend to do, so that's all good

Re: Hospital food petition
It is one I found that was closest to the 'campaign' that will be kicking odd BIG time soon as I have found there are alot of disgruntled people out there from several pertinent places who will give me lots and lots of information / dirt on lots of things.
Don't worry tooooo much about this petition as it ends soon and as someone pointed out to me it's not about fresh, organic food as it can still be cooked crappily it's about a minimum level of standard that needs putting in place so... when I finally consolidate all the gossip and write up a referendum and some letters I will probably open another petition calling for a MINIMUM level of food for patients.
Even the nurses in the hospital yesterday when my OH mentioned what I was doing agreed something needed to be done!!
I just want to say a quick thankyou for all your support though, I really do appreciate it, you're all wonderful and have really helped me over the last few days

Re: Hospital food petition
signed. always feel a bit funny about the information they require on these things though, never know who it will be passed onto, even if it isnt 'published', as it says.
this hospital food malarky is something i feel quite strongly about and has come up in conversation a few times recently. its just absolute madness that the food they serve you while your supposed to be recovering from illness is worse than a flippin t**co value microwave meal. i mean, actually! and UHT orange juice in a hermetically (sp?) sealed self-serving portion, cold, flimsy, white bread toast with jam for breakfast?? I dont know about other hospitals but a company called sodexho does the food for my local hosp, they are part of the same company as londis and also serve our prisons. says it all really!!! you'd probably find more nutrition in vending machine then in these over cooked, over dressed poor excuses of a meal! when ive been in hospital for a week before with serious preggy food poisoning i got every meal bought to me from home.
anyway, rant over
