My new ( ) lottie plot has been dug over but there's still hundreds of bramble roots leftover. I spent a couple of hours down there today trying to clear an area for my potato bed but only accomplished maybe a metre and there's still roots in that!!!

Any tips on how to get rid of this tough old stuff? I couldn't believe how far it went down!

in my (limited) experience, just keep digging them out,, they will weaken eventually

they need to photosynthesize to strengthen themselves, so they weaken themselves if they keep putting forth runners from underground

After doing a bit of reading last night I've decided to invest in a mattock, looks quite fun too

I think they'll be a pain for a few years but do as Dave suggests and just keep pulling the blighters out when they start sprouting. At least it's a veg patch and you'll be growing mostly annuals and working the soil every year. Though if you do want to plant anything perennial like rhubarb or currants make sure you seriously clear that patch before you plant anything there!
