Hatching eggs

Good evening,

I ended up with some Barnevelders eggs today ...
http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/ ... arnev.html

although there eggs are not that brown at all ... and the colors not as good as the ones on the pictures (maybe the fact that they were kept indoors) .. .. they still are good birds I think.

Now having travelled for 1 hour or so in the car .. should I leave the eggs to settle before giving them to the broody hen ?

Thanks,
Camile

When I've had eggs posted previously they do suggest a settling time of about 24hrs if memory serves correct.

Personally, I think you have too many waddling birds wandering around anyway, so you should foster out some, on a long term basis....

Aww, can't wait to see them tho, they look really pretty birds!

I wouldnt bother, if they've only been in a car as opposed to being tumbled by the postmen there shouldn't have been too much disturbance.

I have a broody hen who hatched out 9 chicks 6 weeks ago! Boy was she early, both mum and chicks are doing well.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advices,

Loads of people said to wait for 24h .. and fewer said not to bother, so I did wait for 23h or so (to avoid having to go out again under the rain) ..

It's all down to the hen now .. but she is a proven broody so she will make me proud.
