So sad

I gave up my plot :(

My neighbour has been rooting around on it, digging up old fencing & taking bits & bobs, even my gloves & shears that I'd stowed behind a waterbutt (luckily they only cost a couple of quid).

In reality, it was really too much for me to take on alone & with a baby. The council came in the day after I got my plot & cleared a whole load of overgrown land (typical, the day after!) so my name is down for one of them when they've been marked out.

I'm just a bit concerned, because I gave up my plot will I have trouble getting a new one?

So very sad today :crybaby:

Thats so sad :hugish: , just looked at your blog, and made me glad that although ours is overgrown and still has a lot of work to do in the next few weeks, at least we didn't have the problem of glass, especially with kids around!

Fingers crossed that one of the cleared ones comes your way soon, and that it has nicer neighbours

Hi - don't be sad - it's only temporary. Perhaps you could nicely explain why you gave up - without finger pointing - its a reasonable explanation.
Good luck PL :flower:

Don't be the goody goody, if the next door tenent is a problem then the council need to know about it. The problem is that the "new" bread of allotmenteers are seen as a threat to the "old" way of life on the allotments and so it is made difficult for them. The council need to take action...

Sorry to hear your sad news but I agree with Big Al , perhaps a quiet word as to why you gave up the lottie.
Best of luck for the new one though hope it all works out :flower:

Thanks everyone. :hugish:

I did tell 'D' why I gave it up but didn't go off on one if you know what I mean?!
He seemed a bit perturbed by it, couldn't quite understand why neighbour would do what he did.

Well it's done now and I have to wait for another one, it shouldn't be too long - they have to mark out the new plots.

I just ordered my seeds and will start sowing this weekend - not going to let a lack of a plot stop me

Let's hope the new one won't be as much of a jungle this time PL!

I find it really frustrating with allotments when you go & find a shed/greenhouse/some other exciting structure & the neighbour says it's theirs... why isn't it on their plot then??

When we took our lottie on years ago, there was a line of water butts along the back bank, so I promptly started some nettle feed in one... to go back the next week & they were gone 3 lotties down... oh, the guy had put them on our lotty when he ran out of room for them... yeah right!!

Keep sowing tho & fingers crossed for your next one xx

:hugish: Oh, poor you. I'm sure you won't have trouble getting one of the nice new ones, and when you do it will be a lot easier for you, not only becaue it will have been prepared for you, but aLso because LO will be just that little bit older, which means not so many nappy changes, feeds, etc.

That's a good attitude. Good for you :thumbright: Here's a bit of sunshine to get them off to a good start :sunny:

[/color hi there , dont be sad :( be happy :flower: allotments should be the highlight of your day. you should love every minute . if your neighbour was a problem, kick em to the kirb and move on. Get a new Lottie, start again, and have fun fun fum. I dont believe in running away from things, but there is no sense suffering something if something else is better . hope you have a great time on your new one when you get it. celebrate a decision to make a possitive change in your life :flower:
