A lovely afternoon!

Post: # 140773Post JulieSherris »

What a nice afternoon I've had!

OK, all I did was have a short drive out to buy some eggs... but I also came away with a freshly baked french baguette, some baccy, some eggs, had a nice cup of tea with one of our fellow Ishers & charlie the spaniel has made some new friends in the form of chickens, ducks & geese!

So, Thank You Camile - for your hospitality & your knowledge sharing today, - you're a star :flower:

See you soon....
See.... you'll be sorry!! I can think of loads of reasons to pop over... bread making is at the top of the list.... my loaf looked gorgeous until I cut into it - edible, but a bit doughy!
The baguette was really yummy though - and hubby agreed :sunny:
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

Think I'll move to Ireland!
Sounds like a lovely afternoon.
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less travelled by
And that has made all the difference.

Specially the baguette - you can take a Frenchman out of France but you can't take a baguette away from him!

What I want to know is does he have a French accent tinged with Irish? One of the very few Bretons I've met here in Brittany who can speak English was an artisan who'd spent several years working in Ireland, and he had the most amazing accent imaginable - about 70% Irish 30% French. Quite sexy actually.

MMM - yes he does! The french creeps in & then the irish brogue..... And then the 2 together....
We have a friend who is from the Czech Republic - and he's the same.... but when Michal gets angry or excited over something, the irish accent gets SO strong - as does the irish vernacular!
I have to say that I love voices/accents that are unusual (John Noble is a current favourite of mine, could listen to that voice for hours) and Camile has a wonderful timbre to his voice, that enhances the accent...

Sorry if you're blushing, Camile - and if you're around on Monday, I'll pop down with some yeast.... I bought some today & I'll never use it all!!

Hello,

well indeed I almost blushed there for a min ..

I'm glad you liked the baguette .. It's a never ending quest at making the best one ever .. but I'm getting there ... and will gladly share the tips .. you know where we are now ...

now I haven't go you to try the Pain viennois I make also ! next time ..

As for the accent, my irish colleague says that he'll make real paddy out of me .. and he is one.

I will gladly take the extra yeast of your hand .. I go through that block quickly enough now .. I've been baked until 3am last night, to have Melanie go with it at 7am this morning. To deliver it at my previous work ..

well worth it though, sold 12 baguettes and 13 pain viennois ..

It was a pleasure meeting you
Camile

Hmmm.. you could use that accent as a selling point for the computer advice line you were talking about :flower:

Glad you had such a lovely day.

It was a pleasure meeting you too, Camile & now that I have, I can see that you type in your accent too.....

I'll bring you a half block of yeast on Monday then.... I have a loaf & 4 rolls gently rising now ready for Stanley, who is just at the right temperature... thank goodness!!

I also have a jug of yeast, water & flour waiting for another loaf tomorrow, according to another recipe... we shall see.... :thumbright:
