Cockerels and Selling Eggs? Fact or Fiction?

My neighbour keeps hybrid hens, no cockerels. I have L.Sussex, Derbyshire Redcaps et el, all with cockerels to breed.

My neighbour constantly witters at me that I'm illegal if I sell the eggs for eating whilst ever there's cockerels running with the hens. She's a member of a Smallholders group and I think she got the information from there. I've never found anything about it in all the books I've read or on the internet. Though confess I don't go to smallholders meetings - I prefer to come here and play with you guys .........

I figure that there must be a lot of people selling free-range eggs off their flocks that are illegal then, or they know a way around it that I'm not aware of.

What's the real facts on this one? Anyone come across this before or is my neighbour simply worried that I'm going to get people to buy my eggs instead of theirs?

Anyone else come across this? :?
