anyone know of any good books for Identifying weeds and pests. I am often unsure if I am getting rid of benefical insects and as for weeds it is always worth know what they are so you can work out the best way to deal with them.

Maybe this section could be book reviews and everything else about books? Might be an idea to expand the section a bit, or do you want it 'pure'?

All about books sounds good to me... My RHS book of gardening has a bit about bugs and weeds in it....

Weeds - I tend to think of weeds being flowers in the wrong place - many have a place in my garden so long as I keep them under control if they are invasive.

http://www.dgsgardening.btinternet.co.uk/weeds.htm has quite a good section on weeds (although be warned - it does talk about some dark and nasty weedkillers too!!!)

The HDRA has two small books that I was going to get - so I can't tell you more about them at the moment than what's in their catalogue. But generally I find their books very good (I have the Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening, and that's kind of my bible).

Pests - How to control them on fruit and vegetables (£5.60)
An informative and practical book to help the organic gardener combat pests. Useful colour photos help with the identification of garden friends as well as pests.

Weeds - How to control them without chemicals (£8.25)
How to identify over ninety common and more rare weeds and then control them in all parts of the organic garden. Colour photos.
